As 2025 comes to a close, all of us at KZFR are taking stock of what this year has meant for our community.
It has been a year defined by resilience, creativity, and a renewed commitment to protecting independent media in the North State. At the heart of that work are listeners and supporters like you, whose generosity helped build the foundation we stand on today.
With your support, we accomplished meaningful work, including:
- Expanding local public affairs coverage with Zephyr News, a weekly 30-minute news program focused on issues in the North State
- Repairing, upgrading, and optimizing equipment at the Magalia transmitter site
- Offering another successful Youth Broadcasting Camp with the Boys and Girls Club of the North Valley, helping young people discover their voice
- Producing radio shows and podcasts with community partners including the Butte County Fire Safe Council, Chico Velo, and Girls on the Run
- Expanded staff skills through participation in the National Federation of Community Broadcasters and Public Media Development & Marketing Conference in workshops on engineering, fundraising, newsroom development, major gifts, and FCC compliance
- Staff and volunteers participated in Media Safety Training hosted by CAL FIRE Public Information Officers
