Member of the Chico community since 1980, Hondo is a retired Firefighter. A Programmer since the mid ‘90’s on the Wednesday night program Creole Stomp with host Mary Riker. “I discovered KZFR and Creole Stomp immediately after my first trip to New Orleans. I met Mary over the phone and she invited me to sit-in and to bring the two new zydeco cds that I had bought at the airport on my way out of Nola. I knew nothing of zydeco music up until then but I knew I liked it! Within a few weeks I was co hosting Creole Stomp!”

Dave got his firehouse/DJ nickname “Hondo” based on The Louis L’ Amour book and John Wayne movie at Station #44 South Chico back in the ‘80’s. Now, host of Bon Matin! on Saturdays, Hondo enjoys Louisiana, Baja and Joie de Vivre! He and his Catahoula, Boozoo can be found enjoying Bidwell Park in between Saturday broadcasts of Bon Matin! “Thank you for supporting KZFR!”
