KZFR Thanks Local Non-Profits

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to answer the KZFR Spring 2013 pledge drive phones. We couldn't do it without you!

Many special thanks to the following local non-profit groups for supporting community radio and answering the phones during the recent pledge drive!

Stonewall Alliance  - "We are an active resource for the LGBTQ+ community, and we are open, safe, and inclusive for all people. We provide information, advocacy, referrals, and support to those who come to us."

Chico Natural Foods Co-Op - "Chico Natural Foods Cooperative visualizes a food industry where refinement, manipulation, packaging, and synthetic ingredients are kept to a minimum - an industry that cares about the environment and the health of its people."

Women's Health Specialists - "We have a vision: A world where women control their own bodies, reproduction and sexuality. WHS is dedicated to providing women-controlled health care and advocating for all options for all women. Only with dignity and freedom of choice can women achieve their full potential."

Chico Peace and Justice Center - "Building justice through peace and peace through justice. The center works for social change through education, community building, and direct action and is dedicated to bringing an end to violent conflict among nations and individuals."

Butte Humane Society - "We are one of the oldest non-profit agencies in Butte County, California, working since 1911 to bring humanitarian care to dogs, cats and other animals."

Youth 4 Change - "The wide array of services we provide demonstrates our commitment to helping families become more resilient. By doing so, it is our intention to increase the health and security of our community’s children."

Rape Crisis Intervention - " Rape Crisis provides a variety of services to sexual assault survivors and their family members and friends within Butte, Glenn and Tehama counties. We can help in an emergency through our 24 hour crisis line (530) 342.RAPE (7273), staffed by trained Volunteer Advocates. We offer ongoing support, assistance, counseling, groups and referral to other services. Our services are confidential, except when we are working in a school we are required by law to report to Children Services Division. "

Paradise Community Wellness Connection - "We intend to create a "culture of wellness" by collaborating with healthcare providers, educators, retailers, local farmers, green builders, eco-conscious businesses, animal health providers and others to create a healthier, more sustainable community."

GRID Alternatives - "GRID Alternatives leads teams of volunteers and job trainees to install solar electric systems exclusively for low-income homeowners."

Gateway Science Museum - "The mission of the GSM is to inspire the exploration of science and natural history of our region and beyond."

Independent Living Services of Northern California - "ILSNC helps community members with disabilities to achieve and/or maintain their optimal level of self-reliance and independence."

Wildflower Open Classroom -"The WOC envisions an integrated thematic learning environment in which our community strives to create self-motivated, competent, and lifelong learners passionately committed to the celebration of diversity, stewardship of the earth, positive interpersonal relationships, appreciation of the arts, and academic excellence."

Torres Shelter - "The Chico Community Shelter Partnership is dedicated to assisting a wide variety of people in their efforts to achieve self-sufficiency and a more stable lifestyle."

Jesus Center - "Driven by our belief in the importance of compassion, our staff will ensure that we provide food and shelter in a supportive environment for those needing our services."

Butte Environmental Council - "Our mission is to protect and defend the land, air and water of Butte County and the surrounding region."

Chico Arts Commission - "The purpose of the Arts Commission is to serve as an advocate for the arts and as partner in the community's artistic and cultural development."

Catalyst - "Catalyst is committed to serving the needs of all victims of domestic violence and their children regardless of ethnicity, citizenship, language, religion, physical disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity or HIV status."

Butte County Library - "Public libraries exist in many countries across the world and are often considered an essential part of having an educated and literate population."
