May 27, 2022: Legal Personhood for Happy the Elephant / Miseducation: How Climate Change is Taught in America

Philosophers Dr. Letitia Meynell and Dr. Andrew Fenton join host Robert Jones to discuss the case brought last week before the New York State Court of Appeals by the Nonhuman Rights Project arguing for the right of personhood on behalf of an elephant named Happy, who has spent the last 45 years at the Bronx Zoo. The case, which The Atlantic calls "the most important animal-rights case of the 21st century", has received international attention. (45m)

Then Robert is in conversation with Chico's own Emmy Award and Edward R. Murrow Award-winning journalist Katie Worth about her new book, Miseducation: How Climate Change is Taught in America, in which she uncovers how, in many American schools—including here in Chico—the climate crisis is taught as an unproven scientific dispute, not as a reality.
