Blue Room Guild Happy Hour

The Blue Room Theatre Guild Happy Hour

What is the Guild?

The first Saturday night of each main stage performance The Blue Room Theatre hosts a private party for theatre Guild Members. At each party there will be food and drink, perhaps to match the spirit of the play being performed, and dessert at intermission. The parties start at 6:30 p.m. and the performances at 7:30 p.m.

How does this help the Blue Room?

As we head into our 23rd season, the Blue Room Theatre faces challenges as we work to make up for our lost City grant at the same time we are working to expand our performances, continue to build our Youth Company, and educational programs. The Guild serves a dual purpose - members have a fabulous evening at a private party watching great performances, while the creation of the guild serves as a primary fundraiser .

What does it cost? $200 per person.

If you are interested in becoming a Guild member, please, email Amber Miller at amber@blueroomtheatre.com for date and time.

THE HOW AND THE WHY

by Sarah Treem

directed by Amanda Detmer

On the eve of a prestigious conference, an up-and coming evolutionary biologist wrestles for the truth with an established leader in the field. This intimate and keenly perceptive play explores evolution and emotion, and the difficult choices faced by women of every generation.

THE UNDERSTUDY

by Theresa Rebeck

directed by Rob Wilson

It’s the understudy rehearsal for a hit new Broadway play, but the set technician is high, the cocky movie star doesn’t understand the script, and the understudy is surprised to find that the stage manager is his jilted ex-fiancée.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

by Charles Dickens

adapted by Roger Montalbano

directed by Amber Miller

The undeniably familiar tale of the spirit of redemption, told in a decidedly unfamiliar fashion. There are still plenty of prisons and workhouses in Scrooge and Marley’s England – but also a few electric guitars and drum kits.

HIR

by Taylor Mac

directed by Joyce Henderson

In this brand new dark comedy a soldier returns stateside after fighting in the Middle East to find a maelstrom back home, including a transgender brother and mother on a radically feminist mission. Neither the patriarchy nor gender norms stand a chance.

TBA

Directed by Matt Hammons

GOOD WITH FACES

by Hilary Tellesen

directed by Hilary Tellesen

In this comedic mystery, Dr Viland, an unconventional psychotherapist, has been stabbed to death by one of his patients, and the only witness suffers from facial blindness and cannot identify the suspect. At his funeral, five of his patients labor their emotional liberation from his mysterious death.

THE FAITH HEALER

by Brian Friel

directed by Joe Hilsee

In this darkly lyrical tale of a traveling faith healer roaming through Scotland and Wales with his wife and his manager, the author has created a metaphorical portrait of the artist as both creator and destroyer. Featuring Bill Johnson, Cynthia Lammel and Jerry Miller.

FRESH INK

by four local writers

The sixteenth annual installment of the Blue Room’s own celebration of theatrical creativity! Four writers are given one week to write a fifteen minute play which must include a specific list of items and occurrences. Four crews each get one week to bring the creation to life – while the ink is still fresh!
