Thank You Local Non-Profits

Thank you to EVERYONE who volunteered to staff our phones during KZFR's Spring 2017 pledge drive. 

Much appreciation to all the local non-profit groups for supporting community radio by answering the phones during the pledge drive! We appreciate your volunteer time and efforts. 

The following 3 went above and beyond by staffing many multiple shifts... Chico Certified Farmers Market, Catalyst and the Disability Action Center!

Chico Certified Farmers Market - "The CCFM provides a unique opportunity for farmers and vendors to sell directly to the consumer by hosting State Certified Farmers’ Markets since 1980. Our market moved several times before we found our ideal home at our current location in the City of Chico Parking 2nd & Wall Streets in Downtown Chico, CA.

Disability Action Center - "DAC helps community members with disabilities to achieve and/or maintain their optimal level of self-reliance and independence."

Catalyst - "Catalyst is committed to serving the needs of all victims of domestic violence and their children regardless of ethnicity, citizenship, language, religion, physical disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity or HIV status." 

And the following covered multiple shifts as well...

Chico 350 - "We are residents of Butte County, California coming together to combat climate change. Chico 350 aims to raise awareness and empower individuals to take local action toward reducing the effects of climate change."

Chico Creek Nature Center - "The official information center for Bidwell Park, we are home to a living animal museum and we host camps, field trips, hikes and teacher workshops.

"Chico Natural Foods Co-Op - "Chico Natural Foods Cooperative visualizes a food industry where refinement, manipulation, packaging, and synthetic ingredients are kept to a minimum - an industry that cares about the environment and the health of its people."

Chico Peace and Justice Center - "Building justice through peace and peace through justice. The center works for social change through education, community building, and direct action and is dedicated to bringing an end to violent conflict among nations and individuals."

Idea Fab Labs - "Meet and collaborate with people who are interested in electronics, programming and future-art. Idea Fab Labs is an open source, do-it-yourself culture! We offer membership usage of various digital fabrication tools and traditional tools. We facilitate educational classes and workshops including weekly scheduled Safety and Basic Use classes as well as a rotating catalog of offerings on more advanced and specialized topics, including guest teachers."

Stonewall Alliance - "Stonewall Alliance is committed to cultivating a safe, open, inclusive environment for all members of the gender and sexual minority (GSM)* and ally community. Stonewall Alliance unites, strengthens, and affirms the community through support, resources, education, advocacy, and celebration. Stonewall Alliance exists to provide a connection to community in an effort to lessen isolation of, strengthen the spirit of, and give voice to the disenfranchised."

ARC of Butte County - "ARC is committed to securing for all people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work and play."

Chico Housing Action Team - "The mission of the CHAT is to ensure that every person in our community has access to fair and adequate shelter and sanitation."

Chico Housing improvement Program - "Helping People Help Themselves” is CHIP’s mission. We assist low-income and rural disadvantaged residents, seniors and others who lack financial resources or knowledge to improve or provide adequately for their housing."

Chico Area Interfaith Council - "Exists to strengthen bonds among faith groups in service to the community. We provide educational programs to foster public understanding and tolerance, create opportunities for building relationships across lines of difference, and facilitate cooperation on community efforts that reflect the shared values of our diverse traditions.

Chico Velo - "Chico Velo offers a wide range of programs that you can get involved in and start the whole family cycling."

Frack Free Butte County - "We strive to provide current information about the risks and social costs of fracking and other extreme energy extraction, especially as these impact Butte County residents."

Handi-Riders of Northern Calif - "Providing equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) to children and adults with disabilities in Northern California since 1981."

Lyme Center - "Our mission is to promote awareness, education and advocacy about Lyme disease and other tick borne illnesses. Located in Northern California."

Paradise Community Guilds - Newly renamed Paradise Grange is now the Norton Buffalo Hall "Build Community - Support Local Agriculture - Promote Sustainable Living - Education."

Sky Creek Dharma Center - "Our mission is to support and sustain the activities of Buddhist sanghas* and offer the Dharma to the community."

Theatre on the Ridge in Paradise - "The purpose of Theatre on the Ridge is to engage, educate and entertain our community with consistently creative theatre experiences. founded in 1975 as an offshoot of a children's program administered by the Paradise Recreation and Parks District. "

Torres Shelter - "The Chico Community Shelter Partnership is dedicated to assisting a wide variety of people in their efforts to achieve self-sufficiency and a more stable lifestyle."
